Spare Parts Summer Camp - gel plates

Join us at the Center for an afternoon of unplugged, hands-on community arts and crafts. As summer settles in, we're embracing the nostalgia of summer camp - spending time with friends, creating art, and enjoying carefree moments together. Each Sunday session is designed to encourage play, creativity, and learning in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Whether you're looking to connect, reconnect, or simply have fun, these gatherings offer space to create, unwind, and enjoy the company of others.

Spend some time with Anfisa Brewer from Dirtybones Designs playing with paint and paper, learning how to create your own prints with the Gelli plate, and with Julia, who will be teaching a simple beaded bracelet technique that you can use to create pieces for all your friends! (All materials provided)

Please read the listing carefully, as the Summer Camp classes will follow a different format:

* Enrollment is limited to 20 participants. Children aged 12 + will be welcomed if attending with a chaperone.

* Participants will be divided into two groups: Group A and Group B.

Peek A Boo Mending at ArtPace

Peek A Boo Mending at ArtPace

Peek a Boo mending is a whimsical patching technique where you sew fabric on the inside of a garment, then cut away the top (garment) fabric so that your fun pattern “peeks” out from underneath! Bring your neglected garments and give them an entirely new personality in this hands-on workshop. Expect to pick from a wide variety of secondhand fabrics (provided by us) to pair with your garment, then be led through the process of mapping out your patches with paper stencils, sewing them in, and refining your cutouts with your choice of distressed or stitched finishing! All supplies will be provided aside from your garment. Garments with thick, tightly woven fabric, ie, cargo pants, hoodies, denim, work best.

What’s included:

  • All necessary supplies aside from your secondhand garment, including needles, thread, etc.

  • Thorough instruction on basic sewing techniques such as threading your needle & stitching by hand, as well as hemming/finishing techniques for your raw edges

  • All participants can expect to leave with a fully mended garment!
